Margaritas and fishbowls of alcohol are good for carb-loading, right?

Had an amazing birthday party last night. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a lot of my friends, because I’ve been out of town so much. But SO many people came, and I just had a perfect time! Got drunk – but just the right level of drunk, where I was having a great time but not making an idiot out of myself. I absolutely love the frozen drinks at Dallas BBQ, and we got fishbowls at Brother Jimmy’s after which I had more than my share of! I’m racing on Sunday morning, so last night was supposed to be my carb loading – hopefully alcohol counts 🙂 Also, I had a pretty diverse group of friends come, and most people only knew one or two other people, but everyone got along great and I didn’t feel like I had to babysit or anything.

The boy came and says that he really enjoyed meeting all my friends. My friends LOVED him, and spent half the night telling me how awesome he was. Excellent 🙂 This morning we stopped at Starbucks and then sat in Central Park with our iced coffees to people watch. It was really interesting to watch all the runners (though I didn’t admit to him that I was checking out their technique, and – let’s be honest – their sneakers/gear/running apparel). I had a great time, and we get along really well. I think he’s amazing, and he’s said the same about me, which just makes me all giddy and excited 🙂 At some point it seems to be the blog standard to come up with some kind of nickname for him. I’ll let you know when I do.

Upcoming events: Today I’m heading to Albany to party with friends there tonight. Tomorrow is the Boilermaker race in Utica (15K distance, about 20k runners, and all-you-can-drink beer at the brewery that is the finish line), and then driving back to Boston. Tomorrow night is a birthday dinner with my Boston friends, then working my butt off to finish my project by Wednesday, when I fly back to Albany. Family birthday dinner will be Wednesday night (that’s when I’ll get my Garmin!), and then Thursday I’m headed up to the Adirondacks for trail running camp! I’ve never done any trail running so I’m really excited to learn how. And how great is it that I get to take a vacation where I run twice a day, watch running movies, attend running seminars, talk about running constantly, and then do a race at the end? Afterwards, back to Albany on Sunday afternoon/evening, and finally back to NYC for good either Sunday evening or Monday morning, where I’ll be hanging out at home and hopefully getting on a regular gym routine until I get staffed on another project.

Life is good, and I’m looking forward to a great week!

  1. Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like you have/had a lot of fun celebrations – good for you! Is this boy one of the ones you met during one of your many many races?

  2. Trail running camp…no that’s my kinda camping!

Have a blast…I feel another conver to the dark side coming!

Oh I need more elipses (sp?)…

  3. So I’m thinking: when do you sleep? All the consultants I know do not have lives. And then most of the runners I know don’t have lives (outside of running). How do you do both?
