Tagged!

Lisa tagged me, and I figured for once I’ll answer 🙂

Rules: Each player answers the question themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment letting them know that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve answered the questions on your blog.
I’m not tagging anyone for this, especially since I’ve already seen this meme crop up on a lot of blogs. If you want to do it, consider yourself tagged and then just post me a comment so I know to come read!

10 Years Ago (1998):
-I was a huge dork in middle school
-I finally started going through puberty, and as a result, quit dancing professionally because I didn’t have a dancer’s body
-I compensated by taking two months off from school (well, not completely off – I had a tutor) to play one of the Cratchit children in a regional theater’s production of A Christmas Carol
-I couldn’t run 1/4 mile without getting a horrible stitch in my side and having to walk
-I spent hours a day on the internet: some things never change!

5 Things on Today’s “To Do” List:
I actually typed up a to-do list to stare at me in the face on my computer desktop, so this is easy to answer.
-Pick up the Halloween costume I bought on Craigslist (and by “pick up”, I mean e-mail the girl and tell her I’ll pay her to mail it because I’m too lazy to go to Murray Hill)
-Catch up on blogs and catch up on some back posts I’ve been meaning to finish
-I have a work dinner tonight, so exercise during the day and eat lightly to save up some calories
-Laundry. I haven’t done it in more than a month and I am completely out of good running clothes for this weekend – it’s time.
-Run at least 1 mile as part of my 21 day challenge. Preferably get in some good weight training for my arms as well, but we’ll see how lazy I am.

5 Things that I would do if I were a millionaire:
$1 million doesn’t go that far these days, but I’ll assume this means “if I had all the money I could ever want”:
-Sign up for training/take time off work and get certified as a Jazzercise instructor
-Start the health and fitness business I’ve dreamed about (don’t want to post the details here because I think I may do it someday)
-Sign up for the Antarctica Marathon (currently sold out until 2011), and also book marathons on all the different continents
-Buy my own apartment in NYC so I don’t have to keep paying rent, and also buy a second home somewhere on a beach. I LOVE the beach!
-Hire Jillian Michaels as a personal trainer to kick my butt

5 Places I have lived:
-Albany, New York – hometown
-Ithaca, New York – where I went to college
-Copenhagen, Denmark – summer study abroad program
-Sarasota, Florida – summer internship (yes, I know it’s the coolest location for an internship… but let me tell you, it’s not so “cool” in the July heat)
-New York, New York – freshman year of college and now my permanent home

5 Jobs I have had:
-Actress/dancer: In my teens I did several regional theater shows and tours for pay. The pay is not worth it; when you factor in rehearsals and performances, it’s something like $1/hour. But I loved it 🙂
-Panera Bread: cashiering, prepping food, making drinks, taking leftover goodies home at the end of the night. God, I miss my high school metabolism.
-Johnny Rockets: singing and dancing (my favorite part), serving tables, making milkshakes. My claim to fame here is that the New York Giants frequented our store and I was usually the one to wait on them, so I got to know a lot of them (though I think most of the ones I knew aren’t on the team anymore).
-Various corporate internships, nothing too exciting
-Analyst at a consulting firm: PowerPoint, Excel, research, analysis, etc. And travel, lots of travel!

  1. Can I just say that I am so jealous of your theater experience? I absolutely love musicals but unfortunately, have no talent 🙁 In high school, I resorted to make-up / costume / stage crew just so I could be a part of the production – haha! Well, I did get to appear in one show (The Music Man) but that’s b/c they took everyone – I had a blast though! When I lived in Hoboken, I would see shows on Broadway all the time, often by myself through TKTS.

Also, loved your interview from the Lounge – good for you!

  2. It doesn’t matter how often the memes go around, I still like reading everyone’s responses. Especially when gems like ‘jazzercise’ come up. Really? 🙂

  3. Hi Laura, I read your Open Mic interview. When you join the 50 States club, be sure to get in contact with Martha. She ran 17 states in 2006, so that she could have her 50th state be her 100th marathon. She is a logistical wizard. Some states only have one or two marathons per year, so planning will be important in your quest.

    Tell her Diva sent you!

  4. Good work on being a featured runner on Runners Lounge.(I would have congratulated you in a email but I don’t think I have it!)

Although I am a bit hurt that Dean is your running hero. 🙁

  5. Was your study abroad program in Copenhagen through DIS? I studied abroad in Copenhagen with DIS in Spring 2006 and I worked there this past year, from July 2007-September 2008! 🙂

  6. Just read your great interview over at the Longe…so interesting! Finding out more stuff about you is kinda fun…especially since we’ve met already, haha! Have fun in Niagara tomorrow!
