The most beautiful sound I ever heard

I know everyone’s taste in music is very different, but please, please, PLEASE go listen to the song in this YouTube video. It’s an arrangement that combines Taylor Swift’s Love Story with Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” two songs that I already love. But Jon Schmidt combines them to create the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard in my life, and brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it. I am in absolute awe – it just makes my whole life feel so peaceful and wonderful, especially when I think of the beautiful lyrics of these songs, and hear the arranger’s description at the end of the video of how he came to make this. I already know how to play the piano, but I now want his sheet music and I want to learn to play how he does. It’s a very similar style to how Boyfriend plays – very lyrical, smooth, and serene.

After listening to that video a million times, I headed over to his website, where you can listen to all his music for free online. I discovered that it’s not just that song – it’s that he has an incredible gift for composing/arranging stunningly beautiul music. “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” is even better than the original classic! Further browsing through his site, I found out that he plays at weddings (only as a performer though – he won’t do it as background music). Now, I am not one of those girls who has had her wedding planned since she was little. Surprising, huh, since I’m such a ridiculous romantic? But yeah, I have no idea what I want my wedding to be like someday.. until now. Assuming that I am still keeping up this blog and you are still reading it and Jon Schmidt is still alive/playing when I get married someday (no idea when that will be – it’s not like I’m close now)… remind me that I want him to play at my wedding. Please. I really want that to be what I listen to on the happiest day of my life.

Boyfriend’s brother is getting married this weekend, and I’m already trying to figure out how I can slip this into the mix. Meddlesome? Perhaps. But I have to think that once they heard it, they’d thank me 🙂

  1. Jon Schmidt is amazing. He’s from Utah, so I was lucky enough to see him perform for my choir class in high school. His theatrics and showmanship is amazing.

  2. That is pretty cool stuff.

So remember something to do for your wedding? Isn’t that a hope chest? There’s probably a digital version, since you live in NY and don’t ahve space for a clunky chest.
