I need me some kicks

Another wedding coming up this weekend (yes, this is definitely wedding season), and I’m determined to do it right. I have a few meals planned to eat out (book club, friend’s birthday, etc), but the rest of the time, I’m going to be really good. Lots of cooking, with no getting lazy for lunch and just picking up something with my coworkers (as I’ve been becoming a bit prone to do lately).

Also, the gym? It is on. This morning I did 30 minutes on the bike and 15 mintues on the elliptical while finishing up the book for tonight’s book club, and I’d also like to hit the gym again tonight when I get home. I really like doing early morning workouts because even if I get tired at the end of the day, I’ve still gotten my workout in and I don’t have to stress too much. Plus it just puts me in a good healthy mood all day, and I want to keep the kick alive.

In other news, I really need some new running shoes. I haven’t really been that great at tracking the mileage on any of my current pairs (read: I tracked it for like two weeks and then stopped, so now I have no idea), but I think it’s about time for some new ones. However, I’m really struggling to find a good sale. I currently run in either the Asics GT-21 series (meaning GT-2110s, GT-2140s, etc) or the Brooks Adrenaline series, but I haven’t been able to find those on sale anywhere, even the older models. Does anyone else run in either of those? What alternate shoes do you find comparable in other brands? I may have to just get myself down to Niketown and take a test run of some of their shoes so I can figure out what I like there. Otherwise, anyone have any suggestions for finding deals on shoes?

  1. Do you ever use Google shopping? If you go to Google, click on the shopping tab and enter your shoe make, it basically searches the internet for all of the retailers who have that item in stock . . . then you can sort by price to find the cheap ones. That’s how I usually search for my running shoes 🙂

  2. I run in adrenaline’s. But, I don’t usually look very hard for good sales. (Fail) I would think that you would be able to find the old GTS-8s somewhere for cheap? Of course, assuming that there are even any left.

  3. Found some links for you!

Also check for coupon codes and such.

  4. I run in Brooks Adrenalines, and I have a saved search on ebay for my size. It emails me automatically when a pair comes up and I usually get them for about $50-$60, sometimes cheaper. It’s not good for “I need new shoes now!” but I just buy them when they’re available and save them for when I need them.

  5. I just recently bought Mizunos…they are AMAZING..i was running in adidas supernova sequence and they were cutting off circulation…i was so thankful when i figured out what the problem was…also i see you live in NY..idk if you ever come out to long island but there is a running store in bellmore called runner’s stride that is AMAZING…they will help you with everything and you can even test out the shoes…take them around the block for a run before you buy them. i bought my sequences there and they gave me the mizunos for free and they were more expensive than the adidas
