TGI Flyday: Unexpectedly Looking Forward to the Weekend

Thursday = Flyday in consulting land, and with all the winter storms going on, I was a little worried I wouldn’t make it out tonight. The Dallas forecast was “snow and thunderstorms”, which is pretty much the worst possible forecast you can ever have in Texas, and so I was checking my flight status most of the afternoon, prepared for the worst. Fortunately, I’m in flight now, and psyched to finally be sleeping in my own bed tonight.

Tomorrow is a special Friday for the Denver office of my firm – it’s our annual Advisory Ski Trip! I am pretty pumped about both the fun of the event, and the fact that I organized it and so am crossing my fingers for it to go off without a hitch 🙂 Now that I’m on my flight home and don’t have to worry about getting stuck in Dallas and missing it, I think all the logistics are pretty well taken care of. My biggest concern is just the fact that my legs are still insanely sore from that Bodybar pilates class on Tuesday morning, so I’m not sure how well I’ll do on the slopes. Stay strong, legs, you’ve got a day of powder to endure!

Pretty sure my coworkers figured it out when they saw the horror with which I approached the stairwell all this week.

The rest of my weekend is fairly up in the air at this point, and for the first time in a while, I’m flying solo. I don’t have a lot of big plans for the weekend, but I’m actually really looking forward to it anyway! (Very unlike me.) To be honest, what I am most excited about is a quiet morning at home on Saturday. I have a lot of work that I’m hoping to get done, and really looking forward to getting some quality time in my home office without the distraction of any meetings. This week was particularly brutal on that front! I count myself lucky, though, that I’m actually looking forward to doing work on the weekend. I am really happy with my current project and the great people with whom I get to work, and that’s really helping me deliver my best work…. which I’m then proud of and it makes me even happier. It’s a great cycle!

Whenever my work is done (okay, work is never “done”, but whenever I decide I’ve gotten enough done), I’d like to curl up on my couch with a book and some tea. Sure, Colorado isn’t getting the crazy blizzard that people are hunkering down for on the East Coast, but I’m still really looking forward to staying in for a bit. I think Rex Huppke phrased it well:

I think I have that envy too! (Plus, blizzard now = even more amazing skiing later.)

So whether it’s storming where you are or not, TGI Flyday!
