Percussive Massage Tool Review: Hypervolt vs SAFR X1

Hypervolt_vs_SAFR_X1

Today, for a little something different, I’m publishing a review of a new percussive massage tool that aims to help with muscle recovery. You may have heard about the Theragun, a handheld tool that serves to give you a deep tissue massage without having to go to a masseuse. I’ve read some articles praising its benefits, but didn’t pay too close attention until my good friend Sarah bought the Hypervolt – a cheaper version of the Theragun. She’s been raving about it ever since, and after trying it, I can see why – it’s much more intense than a regular electric …

Weekend Recap: Vail Brew Fest and SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch

Arriving_Kennedy_Space_Center

My weekend started off on the disappointing side – with rainy, cold weather that made me cancel plans to go to my work’s annual Promotion Day. Promotion Day is always one of my favorite days of the year – when we announce and celebrate all those who got promoted (we have one time of year for performance reviews / promotions, though we of course provide real-time feedback all year long). Mom_and_Laura_Chuze

My mom has been in town for a week and flew back yesterday – bummer! Luckily, we’ve had a nice, relaxing visit, and I think for once I did a good job of not overloading her with activities. (I made it a point to only plan one thing per day, which is what she prefers.) I can’t wait for her to come back! Weekend Recap: Beaver Creek Talons Challenge

Completed_Talons_Challenge

Recap of February 23-24 This was a really exciting weekend for me, as I achieved a huge ski goal for myself! And when that was done, I also got some down time as I gear up to get back on the road for work. Friday was a busy day of work (as usual), but I was able to book some calls for the afternoon during which I could drive out to the mountains. I left around 1:30pm, well before the Friday night traffic kicked in… but due to some icy roads and accidents that closed down I-70, I still ended …

Off-Mountain Ski Training Workout

Off_Mountain_Ski_Training_Workout

This weekend, I attempted the Talons Challenge at Beaver Creek – participants must ski down every single and double-black diamond on Birds of Prey, Grouse Mountain, and Larkspur. That’s 14 runs and more than 26,000 feet of vertical, all on Beaver Creek’s toughest terrain. This is the first year I’ve even felt comfortable on a double black diamond, so I knew it was going to be a challenge! While I’ve been skiing a lot more this year (I’m already up to 30 ski days this year!), I’ve also been trying to make sure that when I’m in town rather than …
