The No-Decision Workout

I had a rough night of travel last night. I accidentally left my driver’s license at home (I had stashed it in a pocket of my ski jacket this weekend and forgotten to retrieve it), which meant some hassle trying to get through TSA security without an ID. It was surprisingly easier than I expected – I showed them a credit card with my name on it and a prescription in my bag with my name and address, and then {Read More}

Weekend Recap: A(pple Cider Vinegar), B(urpees), and C(ookies)

I mistakenly thought the last week of work before holiday break would be slow, but it was in fact crazy as I tried to get everything done before Christmas. So while I started writing my recap of last weekend on Monday night, it’s now Saturday morning and I’m still trying to finish. Oops! But I’m really enjoying doing these weekend recaps, which allow me to look back on what I did each week, diary-style. Remember when that was how most {Read More}

Fitness on the Rocks 2017

Red Rocks Amphitheater is an incredible venue for concerts, which is why I have it on my summer bucket list to be sure that I see a show there. But it’s also a popular destination for workouts, with many people going in the early morning to run the stairs or do a bootcamp class. It’s normally open to everyone during the day, but on Saturday, it was closed except for ticketholders to one of my absolute favorite Colorado events: Fitness {Read More}

Pondering the Bolder Boulder

I feel like I’ve really been slacking on workouts lately. First there was the week of vacation, where I didn’t have access to any kind of gym. That’s obviously no excuse and I could have done some bodyweight workouts on my own… but I didn’t. I thought I’d get back on track the next week, but that was when I got really sick, and even navigating from one room to the next was problematic. No way could I exercise! Last {Read More}

Class Review: Pound Fitness

The last few Saturdays, I’ve been going to a trendy new workout class that’s a ton of fun: Pound Fitness. I first heard about Pound Fitness several years ago, but never had a studio offering it near me… until now. Two months ago, I saw it on Classpass and immediately knew I wanted to check it out. I assumed it would be primarily a cardio class, so scheduled it after a 5K morning race – figuring it would be good to burn {Read More}

New Project: I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here

One of the best parts about consulting is how we move around from project to project, applying experience in one industry/situation to another. One month I’m working on a business case for a new product in the tech industry, the next, I’m writing change management communications for a pharmaceutical client. I’m always learning something new, and there’s definitely never any opportunity to get bored or complacent! That’s why I came back to consulting after a brief stint working “in industry” (as we {Read More}

2017 Monthly Goal Check In: January

I still feel like I’m getting used to it being January of a new year, but we’re already a month into 2017. Time is flying so far this year! This year, I set a few small goals to work on over the course of the year. My plan is to check in every month, and potentially revise some of the goals a little bit as needed, but ultimately, keep track of my ongoing progress. And so far, I’m doing pretty {Read More}

October Goal Challenge Complete: 20 ClassPass Gym Classes

I was really proud of myself for how I did with my October goal challenge. I was afraid that doing 20 gym classes in 20 days was too aggressive. But I ended up finishing the month with 24 classes at 17 different studios! I definitely discovered some new favorites that I plan to visit in the future. Here’s the rundown of all the classes I took in the last week: Barre Forte: This is a relatively new chain of barre studios {Read More}

October Goal Check In: Week 2

Week 2 of my (delayed) October challenge is now in the books, and I did pretty well sticking to my workout a day plan! (And my butt is feeling pretty sore to boot.) Here are the ClassPass studios I tried in the last week: Brendle at TruFit: I didn’t really know what this class was, which was why I was excited to try it. Basically, a simple bootcamp that was to-the-point but unimpressive. We rotated through six different stations with {Read More}

October Goal Check In: Week 1

I set my October goal a bit late, so I’m now wrapping up week 1 of my challenge to take 20 ClassPass classes by the end of the month. My hope was that committing to a certain number of classes would increase my accountability, and also increase my variety by forcing me to try some new-to-me studios in Colorado. Until this month, I’ve taken most of my ClassPass classes in Dallas; it’s like a whole new world here in Colorado! {Read More}
