I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central Consulting for Marriott Rewards. I received Marriott Points to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. Guess what? I’m actually in Colorado… for good. My project in Dallas has ended, and now I’ll be working on a project right here in Colorado this fall! I’m kind of in a little bit of shock over this. This week has been pretty surreal. I’ve been {Read More}
Getting treated like a health queen
Last night I walked into my room to discover an awesome surprise. My hotel, the Omni, left me a bevy of incredible treats to make me feel like a rockstar! -A yoga mat, towel, and water.-A gym bag filled with more towels, another bottle of water, some 3 pound dumbbells (okay, so those are kind of worthless to super strong me, but it was the thought that counted!), and some resistance bands.-A card from my concierge welcoming me back to {Read More}
Hotel Review: W Washington DC
This week, I changed up my hotel. Thanks to a great rate on Travelzoo, I decided to check out the W Hotel Washington DC – a chic little place one block away from the White House. When I first walked in, it seemed like tourist central! I’m very used to my usual hotel that’s nearly all business travelers, so this was a different scene. Furthermore, instead of a staid lobby with classical Christmas music playing in the background (which is {Read More}
New digs, new gym
First night at my new home (the Westin in DC), and I immediately headed down to the gym to check out the equipment. Not too shabby – there’s a multipurpose weight machine, a pretty extensive set of dumbbells, four treadmills, three ellipticals, two stationary bikes, and a stair stepper. The nice part of all this is it’s spread out in a multi-level room that extends around several corners, so you don’t feel boxed in at all, and there is a {Read More}
Prelude to a Race / Mini-Marriott Review
As I mentioned yesterday, most people seem to plan their races in advance. But yesterday morning, I found myself on the 8:30 flight to Boston, knowing that I was going to do a race, but not sure which. There was a 5K in South Boston sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club. That one started at 10 AM, so the question was if I would make it there in time. There was a “hash” in Cambridge complete with drinking and {Read More}
Healthy Hotel Review: Hilton Boston Back Bay
I stayed at the Hilton two weeks ago, and wrote most of this then, but have been slow to post it. I’m staying at the Westin right now, and I find that I keep adding to this review as I compare it to the Westin. For the record, I like the Hilton much better… but the Westin has a treadmill/spinning bike in my room, which is the only reason I stay here. If they ever kick me out of this {Read More}
And now, live from my workout!
This post is coming to you direct from… the treadmill. As in, I am walking on the treadmill right now while typing this. How cool is that?! I’m staying at the Westin Copley Square this week, and while I was initially dismayed to find out that this particular Westin has discontinued the RunWestin program (where they have a “running concierge” who leads group running tours of the city every morning), I was mollified by getting a surprise: I got one {Read More}
