Five days!!!

I started posting this as a comment on Aron’s latest post, but it got long so I decided to turn it into my own post. My race week strategy:1. Hydration: drink lots of water all week. Drink lots of alcohol on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Try to avoid alcohol on Friday night but probably not succeed. Saturday definitely no alcohol.2. Carbs: avoid bread/pasta/dry carbs because they’re empty calories that I generally avoid except before a race. Eat tons of veggies, though, and then on Friday and Saturday I will eat dry carbs because it’s close to the race and I …

Tagged: Six Word Memoirs

TK’s suggestion has now become the topic of a Take It And Run Thursday post, so I’ve decided to recycle. One update to add: I totally avenged my DNF in San Francisco and got a new PR in the marathon! TK tagged me for a post, and for once, I’ve learned my lesson about not waiting to respond. I’m posting now instead of procrastinating! Inspired by Jessica’s list of Things I’ve Learned from Blogging, and Half-Fast’s Advice for New Runners, I thought I’d start a series of posts called “You Know You’re a Crazy Running Blogger When.” Rather than one list, I’ll add a short post every time I get inspired. Today’s topic? Googling for other people who ran the same race as you. It all started when I checked my StatCounter and found that someone had gotten to my blog by searching for Manhattan Half-Marathon 2008. What a great idea! I’d love to see what some other crazy running bloggers thought of the …

Half-Marathon Race Playlist

Everyone seems to always be asking for new music to add to their iPods to get them through a run, so I thought I’d share some of my favorites from my half-marathon playlist. I had a lot more music than just this on there, but these were the ones that really got me going. Britney Spears – Stronger “Cause now I’m stronger than yesterday…” We’ll start off with something pop-y and cliched. This came on as I was approaching mile 10, which was a little more than halfway through the second loop of the course. The longest race I had …
