Five days!!!

I started posting this as a comment on Aron’s latest post, but it got long so I decided to turn it into my own post. My race week strategy:1. Hydration: drink lots of water all week. Drink lots of alcohol on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Try to avoid alcohol on Friday night but probably not succeed. Saturday definitely no alcohol.2. Carbs: avoid bread/pasta/dry carbs because they’re empty calories that I generally avoid except before a race. Eat tons of veggies, {Read More}

Tagged: Six Word Memoirs

TK’s suggestion has now become the topic of a Take It And Run Thursday post, so I’ve decided to recycle. One update to add: I totally avenged my DNF in San Francisco and got a new PR in the marathon! TK tagged me for a post, and for once, I’ve learned my lesson about not waiting to respond. I’m posting now instead of procrastinating! Check out her original post, which has a really interesting description and video, but the gist {Read More}

Calgary, here I come!

Flights are booked. Race registration is complete. I’m doing the Calgary Marathon on Sunday! The race starts at 7 AM and my flight is at 1:50 PM, which creates extra incentive for me to run a PR so I don’t miss my flight :) A quick quiz courtesy of Marathon Maniacs: Do your thoughts switch to the next scheduled race immediately after finishing a marathon?Five minutes after finishing Seafair, I could be heard on the phone with my mom saying {Read More}

You Know You’re a Crazy Running Blogger When… #1

Inspired by Jessica’s list of Things I’ve Learned from Blogging, and Half-Fast’s Advice for New Runners, I thought I’d start a series of posts called “You Know You’re a Crazy Running Blogger When.” Rather than one list, I’ll add a short post every time I get inspired. Today’s topic? Googling for other people who ran the same race as you. It all started when I checked my StatCounter and found that someone had gotten to my blog by searching for {Read More}

Half-Marathon Race Playlist

Everyone seems to always be asking for new music to add to their iPods to get them through a run, so I thought I’d share some of my favorites from my half-marathon playlist. I had a lot more music than just this on there, but these were the ones that really got me going. Britney Spears – Stronger “Cause now I’m stronger than yesterday…” We’ll start off with something pop-y and cliched. This came on as I was approaching mile {Read More}

What would you do if money was no object?

With Friday’s post about my job, and me being away for the weekend but still unfortunately working right now, I thought it would be a good time to discuss a question my Director asks all new team members at our “welcome to the team” lunch. (On a side note, this week at that lunch, I did a great job eating healthy for the meal: no bread, drank water, and got grilled salmon with lentils as my entree… but then I {Read More}

Top 10 Flavors to Watch in 2008

Just when you thought all the 2008 prediction lists were winding down, I’m dug up another. Since this blog is clearly cutting-edge (ha!), I thought I’d go through Meatless Monday’s list of Top 10 Flavors to Watch in 2008. Lately I seem to be all about comparing myself to various lists, so I’ll continue the pattern: Pomegranate – I rarely eat pomegranates; maybe this is something to add to my new/rotation produce list? I had some pomegranate-flavored liqueur (Pama brand) {Read More}
