My Friday started off rough – I woke up at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I read in bed until 6am. On the bright side, I finished two books in that time! (One was short, the other I was already halfway through.) I also had time to do a 30 minute Peloton class, and chose a 90s pop ride with Hannah Corbin, which put me in a great mood from the day! But my workout wasn’t over {Read More}
Weekend Recap: COVID Birthday
Well, my birthday this year was not quite what I expected… but I guess that’s the theme of 2020, right? Normally, I like to take a day off work (whether on my birthday or close to it) and spend it doing my favorite things. COVID didn’t interrupt that, but my work schedule did – I didn’t block the day soon enough, and my calendar filled up with a bunch of meetings that I didn’t want to cancel. So while I {Read More}
Vacation Recap: Winter Break, Week 2
I left Albany on Christmas Eve, expecting to be home by 6pm. Unfortunately, United had other plans for me :( My original flight from Albany to Chicago was several hours delayed, which pushed me to a later connecting flight as well. I didn’t end up landing until 8pm, and rushed home to drop my stuff off and change, then headed downtown for a wine date at Barcelona. Nice cozy way to close out Christmas Eve and put all the travel {Read More}
Two Nights Before the Race: HITS Sarasota Olympic Triathlon
I’m really nervous. I’m on a plane to do my first triathlon on Sunday – the HITS Sarasota, Olympic distance. I feel reasonably prepared from a physical standpoint (well, mostly), but there is a lot lacking in my preparation. Namely, around all the stuff. One big selling point for running is that all you really need is a well-fitting pair of sneakers , even if you’re doing a full marathon. A watch? Helpful but not necessary. Gels / fancy nutrition? {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Holiday Party Weekend
Weekend of December 7-8 This was a super short weekend for me… so hopefully that means I can crank out this recap and get caught up on writing these :) I did get home on Thursday night, but my Friday was absolutely packed – first I hosted First Friday for my town, then was off to a dentist appointment, and then I finally was able to flip over to do work the rest of the day. I used to make {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Santacon, and Monet
Recap of November 27 to December 1 This was a lovely long weekend from Thanksgiving Thursday to Sunday! And my mom was with me in Colorado the whole time, which made me really happy. I’m working on convincing her to move, and I think it’s starting to work, as she periodically sends me houses on Zillow she’s looking at :) Speaking of houses, to start Thanksgiving extra thankful, Mom and I headed up to the mountains after I finished work {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving with Mom!
Weekend of November 22-24 This was an exhausting week of work; I was at the office past 9pm most nights, and then delivered an all-day workshop on Friday which just took a lot of my mental energy. But when I flew home Friday night, it was knowing that my mom was waiting at the Denver Airport for me – she’s visiting for ten days! I have to say, it took every ounce of my willpower not to have a glass {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Chicago Sell Weekend and Friendsgiving
Weekend of November 16-17 This was a very short weekend for me, as I had work events in Chicago through Saturday morning. But I managed to pack a lot in! My week of travel was crazy – six cities in six days. However, thanks to a big snowstorm in Chicago on Monday, that leg of my trip got canceled, so I headed straight to Atlanta (my Tuesday destination). Oddly enough, knocking just one city off my list and spending two {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Back to Running!!
Weekend of November 2-3 I got back from a business trip to Atlanta on Wednesday night, and then Thursday was Halloween. As I wrote about last week, I went to my brother’s Halloween party as a 60s gogo dancer… and I reused the same costume to hand out candy at home in Superior. But before that, I had a PT appointment… and Emily finally gave me the go-ahead to start running again! I’m not allowed to do much, but Friday morning, {Read More}
Weekend Recap: Chicago to Denver and Not a Moment to Lose
Weekend of October 19-20 This weekend went by fast. I had workshops in Chicago on Friday morning, and since I had a lot of colleagues I wanted to catch up with, I decided to book an evening flight home to give myself a little bit more time there. I didn’t regret the decision, and had a blast reconnecting with some people I haven’t seen in months… but it did mean that I was only home for two days before I had {Read More}
