I wonder what Peter Bregman would write for an article titled “Can relationship growth and accountability occur simultaneously?”
I love how Alex Franzen always puts the Accent on the Right, rather than getting weighted down by the negative (at least in her writing).
I was expecting more from “Turned My Kid Into A Reader”, but I guess I should know that its persistently doing the same thing over and over again until the change occurs. I guess the question that makes parenting and leadership fun is: how do we keep doing the same thing over and over again without turning people off?
Marry a Runner? Nah. Marry someone with passion.
Its not about a Cover Letter, Resume, Internet Profile or any one tangible *thing*. It’s about how that cover letter, resume, Internet profile is created.
Completely agree about marrying someone with passion – I think that’s the most important life.
Passion, wherever it may lie, breeds happiness, and happiness is a contagious quality, that makes us more valuable to other people in our lives. Finding something that you’re passionate about, and unapologetically investing in that endeavour need not always be a bad thing. Kept in control, it can breed happiness like nothing else.

That “How Much Money Do I Need To Retire?” article is spot on. I did the math when I was 31. Then I started tracking every penny I spent, and I made some adjustments to my spending habits. Now I’m glad I did.
I was surprised how low the amount was! Plus, if I can pay off my mortgage, that takes a huge recurring expense out of the equation. I definitely agree that monitoring spending is the way to go.
We kept our spending lean until the mortgage was paid off. That frees up money for other things.
It’s going to be many more years before I can pay off my mortgage completely – I depleted my savings significantly for the down payment. However, this year I will hit the buffer I’m comfortable with again, and then I’ll be applying all my extra money to the mortgage – so hopefully it all gets paid off faster than I think!
